Season ticket update
The past year has been a difficult one for everyone all over the world due to the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. As you know, the sports industry has not been spared. South African rugby has seen numerous matches cancelled, while the matches that have gone ahead have been in empty stadiums without crowds to participate in line with government’s published health safety protocols.
This has been particularly tough on Western Province Rugby and all of you, our faithful supporters and season ticket-holders, as you form such an integral part of our teams’ identity.
DHL Western Province played their final match at DHL Newlands in the Carling Currie Cup semifinal and the move to Cape Town Stadium remains on track, with the DHL Stormers and DHL Western Province set to play their home games at the iconic stadium in Greenpoint when the new season gets underway.
Current planning will see the DHL Stormers as one of four South African franchises set to join 12 clubs from Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Italy in the ‘Rainbow Cup’, which is set to run from April to June this year. The DHL Stormers are also set to play the British and Irish Lions in the first game of their tour on July 4.
Unfortunately at this stage competitions and fixtures are yet to be confirmed and given the current resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic it is very difficult to predict when our supporters will be able to attend our matches again. Once we have confirmation as to 2021 fixtures, the details will be communicated to you, along with our offer to provide value in lieu of games missed last year. In addition, as a current season ticket holder, you will of course be afforded an early option to secure the best seats in the new stadium and will also be the first back should returning crowd capacity be limited. As such no action is required at this stage with regards to renewal of your season tickets.
Thank you for your incredible support in what have been trying times for everyone. We look forward to welcoming you to our new home Cape Town Stadium. We also hope that you will continue to stand together with us as we enter a new and exciting phase of our rugby history.
