Rassie set to make call on Jean, Andries
That was the word from Stormers spokesperson Frikkie Erasmus on Tuesday. Centre De Villiers has suffered a groin injury on the Stormers tour of Australia and New Zealand, while lock Bekker is recuperating from a rib injury.
Both haven’t trained with the side yet but according to Frikkie Erasmus they have been with the squad all week long. “Rassie will make his decision tomorrow before he announces his side. He will look at the situation then.
“He will speak to the players and the medical staff before he makes his final decision.”
The Stormers got back to winning ways last Saturday with an exciting victory over the Western Force and will be looking to another good performance to conclude the season.
“The spirit in the team is very good,” said Frikkie Erasmus. “It is a motivational factor that they are playing against a local team, but when Western Province and the Cheetahs meet it is like a derby and for both something is at stake – not to finish last on the log.”
Erasmus said the team was buoyed by the availability of hooker Tiaan Liebenberg, who was cited for punching after Saturday’s game. He was not punished though. “We were very glad with the outcome of the hearing, as Tiaan is a very important player in the team,” commented Erasmus.
