The DHL Stormers Bolts scored 11 tries on their way to a comprehensive 71-31 win against Toyota Cheetahs U20 in Bloemfontein on Friday.
The big away win sees them cement their place in second place on the standings, six points behind unbeaten log-leaders Vodacom Bulls U20 and five clear of third-placed Fidelity ADT Lions U20.
Hooker Xabiso Mkiva opened the scoring early-on and prolific winger Jordan Steenkamp got in on the act soon after, before the hosts responded with a double strike of their own to take a 14-10 lead.
However, those were to be the only points the Toyota Cheetahs U20 scored in the first half as first wing Pretorius Ekeji put them in front with his first try before another double-strike just before half-time from lock Dominic Sesink-Clee and centre Randall-John Davids saw the visitors take a 31-14 advantage into the break.
Fullback Meyer Prinsloo converted the last three tries of the first half to put the DHL Stormers Bolts firmly in control.
Ekeji scored another three tries in the second half, while Steenkamp also grabbed a hat-trick, with replacement Steph van der Merwe also getting over the whitewash.
Meyer added another five conversions in the second half as the visitors ran away with it to take a full five points and boost their points difference significantly ahead of their showdown with log-leaders Vodacom Bulls U20 in two weeks’ time.
