DHL Stormers Match Reports

The DHL Stormers scored fives tries on their way to a 33-7 bonus point win against Ulster in their Vodacom United Rugby Championhip encounter at DHL Stadium on Saturday.

That makes it four consecutive bonus point wins at home in October heading into the international break. Ulster scored first, but that was to be their only contribution on the scoreboard as the hosts ran away with it in the end.

The game got off to a tense start, with several handling errors in the warm conditions. It was the visitors that scored first, with David McCann powering over from close range.

The DHL Stormers regrouped and established set-piece dominance, with their scrum getting them out of the 22 before three consecutive maul penalties put them in position to strike.

It was lock JD Schickerling who galloped over for the opening try to level matters at 7-7.

The hosts put in a few good kicks into the 22 and it was the chase that earned them the next try as Paul de Villiers charged-down to score and give them a 12-7 advantage at half-time.

Evan Roos scored a sensational try early in the second half, breaking the line on his own 22 and sprinting away from the defence to the delight of the crowd.

That left them searching for the bonus point try and it came from captain Ruhan Nel, who claimed a pinpoint cross-kick from Yaqeen Ahmed to score.

Ahmed scored a try of his own at the death and added one last conversion for a personal haul of 13 points on the day.
