The Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU) has welcomed South Western Districts back into the DHL Stormers fold.

South Western Districts formed part of the original DHL Stormers franchise which was formed in 1998, and after a 10 year absence the union has once again been made official partners in the DHL Stormers franchise.

This partnership will see the two unions working closely together to take the DHL Stormers franchise forward by assisting each other in player development, exchanging coaching and player resources, forging a relationship between the clubs and schools of the WPRFU and SWD Eagles Rugby and using the DHL Stormers brand to promote and grow the game of rugby in the South Western Districts.

President of the WPRFU Mr Thelo Wakefield said that he is looking forward to working with South Western Districts to build the DHL Stormers brand further.

“I would like to welcome South Western Districts back into the DHL Stormers fold, it will be great to work closely with them once again for our mutual benefit,” he said.

South Western Districts President Mr Hennie Baartman said that the partnership is an exciting development for rugby in the area.

“We are very happy to be back with the DHL Stormers, and we are looking forward to working with the Western Province Rugby Football Union once again,” he said.
