“It was a very pleasing result for us. It has been quite a few years since we have won in Durban so we are delighted to come away with the win. We showed fantastic resilience and composure as a team . We dealt with immense pressure put on by the Sharks and that in the end proved pivotal to the win.”

The coach praised his team’s performance, admitting he was impressed by the players’ displays in all aspects of their play. “I was very pleased with all departments of tonight’s game. Durban is never an easy place to come, but I felt we did very well particularly in the rain. After a few setbacks in the scrum and the lineout we regained our composure and improved as the game went on. I felt we made some brilliant decisions at the breakdown and were very accurate in that regard.”

“Once again Peter Grant had an excellent game and kicked brilliantly throughout. I also thought that Schalk was outstanding after a long layoff and he led by example. The whole team, though pitched up today and once again defensively we were superb.”

Attentions now turns to the Reds, who earlier on Saturday secured a 30-25 victory over the MTN Lions. He said: “The focus now switches to the Reds for the next couple of days. There is still a long way to go in the competition and is to maintain the performance level every week. We are, however looking forward to returning to DHL Newlands and playing in front of the faithful next weekend.”

With no new injuries to report and a perfect 6 from 6 record, the DHL Stormers will be confident going into what will surely be another huge challenge on Saturday.
