What is your earliest rugby memory?

Grade 1 rugby training days building up the courage to tackle the big boys and learning how to hand-off from Mnr. André Pollard (our headmaster and u7A coach at the time).

What has been your career highlight to date?

Playing for the Springboks.

Who has had the biggest impact on your career and why?

My parents for their love and support and my various coaches through the years. Then also Pieter-Steph du Toit, because of his immense workrate and impact on games he has been an inspiration and role model.

What do you like to do when you are not playing rugby?

Spend time with friends. Pizza and movies. Playing touchies or soccer. Adventures in nature. Indoor games or kareoke. Reading the Bible.

Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

Probably my mom. She is just such an incredibly hard-worker and cares so much for people - it has really been a support and inspiration.

What is your favourite city you have visited and why?

Galway. Has a nice friendly vibe, and it is just kind of unique and different from the other big European cities.

What is your favourite meal?

Sirloin steak at the Fat butcher.

Who was your rugby hero growing up?

Schalk Burger, Duane Vermeulen.

If you could invite any five people to a braai, who would they be?

Probably all my cousins! One braai for the cousins on one side of the family and then a second one for the other side.

Which DHL Stormers player do you think is most likely to become a coach one day and why?

Ruhan Nel. He has good game understanding and carries a lot of authority in what he says when he speaks about the technical aspects of the game.

Best and worst dressed in the squad?

Best dressed would probably go to Damian Willemse for effort and freedom of expression. I’ll take the wooden spoon thank you very much.

Funniest person in the squad and why?

Sazi Sandi. He has naturally taken up the slack after the departures of Cornel Smit and Hacjivah Dayimani as far as vibe and entertainment goes! Class human, and always fun to be around.
