DHL Stormers Match Reports

The DHL Stormers scored four tries on their way to a 29-21 win against Dragons RFC at DHL Stadium on Sunday.

The bonus point win sees them return to second place on the Vodacom URC standings, with another home game against Edinburgh coming up next week.

The home side got on the front foot early as a 50-22 from Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu put them into the opposition 22. It did not take long for the flyhalf to strike, as he ran a great angle to hit a gap and score.

It was his halfback partner Imad Khan who had picked him out and the pair linked up again for the second try, as a backhanded pass on the blindside of a maul from Khan saw Feinberg-Mngomezulu make it a double.

The visitors scored against the run of play, turning defence into attack and hacking the ball ahead before Seb Davies finished the try.

The Welsh side enjoyed some territorial dominance towards the end of the second half, but could not make it count as the DHL Stormers’ defence held firm to see them take a 14-7 lead into the half-time break.

The hosts were first to score in the second half as Feinberg-Mngomezulu slotted a long-range penalty and they followed that up with the third try as a powerful scrum shoved the Dragons right off the ball, for Evan Roos to pick up and score.

The visitors hit back with a try of their own from Thomas Young, but the DHL Stormers had the bonus point wrapped up through a bit of individual brilliance from Wandisile Simelane, who grubbered down the touchline and then collected it himself to score.

The Dragons were last to score when wing Rio Dyer went through for their third try, but it had no bearing on the final result as the DHL Stormers banked a full five points.
