DHL Stormers 34(12) Boland 6(3)
Whilst there were many errors, the pre-season games served the purpose of providing high intensity, physical match preparation, for what will be a long and gruelling Super Rugby season. Crucially options were considered and depth was tested and pleasingly that depth is arguably better than it has been in the past, with a number of youngsters really putting their hands up.
The Boland game did however seemingly come at a massive cost, with hooker Tiaan Liebenberg stretchered from the field with a knee injury. “Tiaan has gone for scans, but the knee did not look good.” Said Allister Coetzee.
On the positive side, Koster and Franscois Louw both had game time after injury layoffs and Jaque Fourie is due to take full team practice from Wednesday.
