DHL Newlands declared non-smoking facility

9 years ago News

DHL Newlands has with immediate effect been declared a non-smoking facility, in compliance with the requirements of the relevant tobacco legislation.

After consultation with City of Cape Town Health Officials and in line with legislation, no smoking of any kind will be allowed in the stadium.

Previously the stadium featured 4 designated smoking areas in the corners of the ground, with smoking in the stands prohibited, but this is no longer allowed and all forms of smoking (including e-cigarettes) in any part of the stadium now in contravention of the stadium rules.

This brings DHL Newlands in line with Act 23 of 2007, Section 2 (1) (a) which states that ‘No person may smoke any tobacco product in any indoor, enclosed or partially enclosed areas…which are open to the public, and includes a workplace and public conveyance.

As per the stadium rules, WP Rugby shall be entitled to refuse admission or readmission to, or to eject from the Stadium or the Ground, any person who does not comply.
