De Villiers, Joubert back on training field

Another Springbok centre, Marius Joubert, also trained flat-out with the team after a long absence due to injuries. Stormers captain De Wet Barry, however, did not train on Monday.

Word from the Stormers camp is that Barry is not injured, but was just given a day off from training.

De Villiers was selected for the past Friday night’s match against the Brumbies at Newlands, but was forced to withdraw on Friday morning after failing a fitness test.

Stormers fans would be hoping that he and Joubert would be ready to be considered for Saturday’s home game against the Highlanders.

The Stormers failed to score any tries against the Brumbies and are in need of an injection of midfield creativity – something De Villiers and Joubert could provide.

The Stormers side for Saturday’s game will be announced on Wednesday.
