Thank you, The Faithful

Thank you, The Faithful

A huge crowd of 42,233 piled into DHL Newlands against the Chiefs on Saturday, a game which, unfortunately, the DHL Stormers were not able to win as they suffered their first loss of the 2015 Super Rugby season.

However, The Faithful showed once again why they are undoubtedly the best supporters in the Super Rugby competition, which will no doubt spur on the team as they get set to take on the Highlanders (in Dunedin), the Hurricanes (in Wellington), the Waratahs (in Sydney) and the Force (in Perth) away from home between March 28 and April 18.

WP Rugby CEO Rob Wagner commented: “Year-in and year-out The Faithful keep up the incredible support of the DHL Stormers at DHL Newlands – the numbers (so far) in 2015 tell the same story.

“The team was severely disappointed at not being able to finish this initial home run of theirs with a win, especially with such a big crowd at DHL Newlands against the Chiefs (on Saturday), but I have no doubt that the support shown to the team so far this season will spur them on as the tournament continues.

“Coach Allister Coetzee and his team have a tough Super Rugby away trip this year, but I know they will be spurred on by the thought of returning to DHL Newlands for at least five more home games in 2015.”

Whilst the crowd numbers at DHL Newlands make for impressive reading, the DHL Stormers continue to feature in the official list of the top three most-watched Super Rugby games on a weekly basis – a trend that is no doubt set to continue on their overseas tour.

“We are always grateful and humbled by the team’s amazing support – at DHL Newlands and further afield,” said Wagner.

“Once again, a sincere thank you to all of our loyal fans – from the DHL Stormers team, the team management, the Executive Committee, the Board and the administration of Western Province Rugby.”
