SUPERBRU – Round 7 Preview

13 years ago News

Few could have predicted such an outstanding run at the start of the 2012 season, so keep the SuperBru picks on your team.

Peter Grant was once again the hero for the side with his 77th minute penalty, preventing what would have been an excellent comeback from the Bulls after they were 14-0 down. They matched the impressive Bulls pack stroke for stroke in a truly fantastic win.

Looking ahead to Round 7, the DHL Stormers are on the road away from South Africa for the first time in 2012, and they couldn’t have a harder start to their tour than travelling to take on the Highlanders in Dunedin. The home side are enjoying an outstanding start to the season with four wins out of five games so far, playing plenty of attractive rugby whilst dominating sides upfront. Winning this one would cement the Stormers status as title contenders come the end of the season. With luck behind them and few injuries to the squad, they’re worth backing on SuperBru. Stormers by 8.

As for the rest of this week’s fixtures, it’s an early start to the week on Thursday with the Rebels taking on the visiting Blues. Propping up the table at the bottom, both are desperate for a win. Rebels by 4. The Sharks then travel to Wellington to take on the Hurricanes and should pick up their second win within a week. Sharks by 7.

The suffering Reds are then back in Brisbane to face the Brumbies, with Jake White’s team looking strong in recent weeks and with a chance of a big scalp. Brumbies by 5. The confident Force then take on the Chiefs in Perth, but this should be an away win. Chiefs by 10.

Finally back in South Africa the Cheetahs host the Lions in Bloemfontein and should rack up another victory. Cheetahs by 8. Last but not least, two former Super Rugby champions go head to head when the Crusaders travel to take on the Bulls. One for the forwards, expect a home success. Bulls by 7.

That’s everything, here’s to more Stormers success this weekend so they stay top of the table!
