Superbru Preview – Week 12

To do so they will have to get past the Cheetahs, who after a disappointing defeat against the Highlanders and then a turgid win over the Force last weekend at home are a side struggling to fulfill their potential. Losing Johan Goosen for four months is a cruel blow given the 19 year old’s form in what has been an outstanding debut season, but Sias Ebersohn is a capable replacement. That being said, a rested and recuperated Stormers side is a dangerous beast. Seemingly set to go toe-to-toe with the Bulls until the final round, every point counts for the home side. DHL Stormers by 17.

Speaking of the Bulls, they continue their tour of Australasia by taking on the Waratahs at ANZ Stadium. Despite scoring 41 points last weekend against the Rebels, the Bulls defence was sloppy, letting in five tries and at one point setting up what looked like an important win for the home side. The Tahs are desperate for results to catch up with the Brumbies but their form is patchy. Bulls by 9.

The Sharks are another side with playoff ambitions still burning after their win over the Highlanders. This week they host the touring Western Force in Durban in what should be another home win. Sharks by 10.

That leaves the Lions, who are on tour in New Zealand, travelling to Auckland to take on the Blues in a battle between the two strugglers. Whilst the Lions have struggled with injuries, the Blues have simply been atrocious in defence, conceding tries seemingly at the will of their opposition. Picking between two stragglers is never easy, normally swaying you towards home advantage, but the Lions played well against the Chiefs and have a strong chance. Lions by 5.

Elsewhere the Rebels host the Crusaders in Melbourne in what should be a simple away win. Crusaders by 13. The Reds are in action against the Chiefs in Brisbane, but although they are beginning to welcome back their injured stars the Chiefs are too good right now. Chiefs by 8. Last but not least, the Highlanders host the Hurricanes in Dunedin, where the best bet is for a home win. Highlanders by 7.

That’s all for this week, best of luck with all your SuperBru picks and let’s hope for another win at DHL Newlands this weekend.
