Stormers wary of Reds

“The conditions were testing and difficult, but we maintained our defensive systems and attacked well. Our goal is to make a step up in every game we play and I feel like we are starting to get the small things right”.

This week another big challenge faces the DHL Stormers who are looking to maintain their unbeaten status in the competition. The Reds currently top the Australian conference and are just 3 points behind the DHL Stormers on the overall log. The DHL Stormers lost their 2010 fixture 16-13 at a slippery Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane last year after leading 7-6 at half time.

Understanding the challenge ahead Allister said, “They are technically sound and tactically very clever, have an astute coach and some experienced game breakers and would have done their homework on us; they will be a challenge in all departments”.

“They have two great decision makers in Quade Cooper and Will Genia and as a team will test us defensively. They also have some great strike runners. Digby Ionae is a great player as are Chambers and Davies. You don’t get watertight defences that can’t be breached and we will need to be on top of our game. It’s a different challenge this week. We believe in our systems and certainly won’t be looking to change anything, but we will need to be accurate, focussed, will need to up our work ethic and improve on our execution.”

Coach Allister Coetzee says a fully fit DHL Stormers team are eager to run out in front of the Newlands faithful this Saturday. “It’s great to be back home, we love playing at Newlands”.
