Ollie le Roux trains with Vodacom Stormers

And more good news for Stormers fans who are concerned about the scrum performance against the Waratahs the past Saturday was that Ollie le Roux joined the team at training in Durbanville.

The two players who were injury concerns after the exhilarating draw against the Waratahs at Newlands, Wylie Human and Brok Harris, have both been declared fit.

Media manager Frikkie Erasmus said Human (rib) and Harris (shoulder) were cleared and trained with the team. There were no other casualties.

Le Roux arrived in Cape Town late on Sunday evening from Ireland, where he played for Leinster. The veteran Springbok played for the Sharks in last year’s Super 14 before he left for Ireland.

“He trained with the team today,” said Erasmus. “He made a good contribution and with his experience he is valuable. No decision, however, has been made about his inclusion in the squad for Saturday’s match.”

Erasmus explained that nothing prevents the Stormers from selecting Le Roux for the game against the Lions.

“But if we want to select him for the semi-final – if we make it obviously – we need to get special permission from Sanzar, as the rules stipulate a player needs to play four games in the league phase.

“Everything depends on what’s happening later this week whether we will apply or not.”

JD Moller’s season-ending injury disrupted the Stormers scrum and after the game against the Waratahs coach Rassie Erasmus admitted the visitors put the heat on his pack at scrum time.

If Le Roux plays on Saturday, the coach can shift Brian Mujati back to his favoured tighthead position.
