Adding to this unique experience, the children had the chance to take part in a coaching clinic with the Investec Stormers players, and both adults and the children got to mingle with their heroes after the clinic, acquiring some treasured photo’s and autographs.

The braais were lit, and soon the delicious smell of boerewors filled the stadium. Whilst parents relaxed and enjoyed their unusual camping surroundings, the children were kept entertained by videos and games.

Saturday morning everyone was up bright and early for breakfast, after which tents were stowed away and it was time to go home laden with goodie bags filled with gifts and a personalised photo of the sleepover.

“The Club Newlands sleepover was fantastic,” said member Charl Barnard. “My son has been looking forward to this event for weeks and it’s all he has been able to talk about. He is going to be the envy of all his friends at school this week!”
