Clean bill of health for Vodacom Stormers

Clean bill of health for Vodacom Stormers

Vodacom Stormers prop Schalk Ferreira is back on the training field with his team mates this week, following a substantial lay-off after the team’s friendly against Boland in the pre-competition phase earlier this year. Ferreira consulted specialists when a neck injury sustained in the 2007 Currie Cup continued to plague the 23 year old after his first match in January. Whilst the injury was considered serious, the fiery prop is ready to once again turn up the heat for a spot in the Vodacom Stormers match 22.

Dylan Des Fountain, who returned home half way through the team’s Australian tour, has also been declared fit for contact. He has recovered from his concussion and will be available for selection.

Pieter Louw and Paul Delport, two promising performers who both sustained long term injuries towards the end of 2007, are also both back on the park, wearing the Blue and White Hoops of WP in the Vodacom Cup. The Vodacom WP team continued their unbeaten run in this year’s competition, when they trounced the Vodacom Blue Bulls at Loftus in a nail biting 37-35 encounter on Saturday. Isma-eel Dollie slotted a penalty in the dying minutes of the match, to sink the home side.

Corne Uys and Eddie Andrews are the only two players on the long term injury list, with both still recovering from their respective knee and back ailments.
