Jozi Faithful winners have fun in CT

But it was not just about the Stormers’ convincing 30-13 win over the old enemy that made it such a great weekend, they were, after all, guests of Club Newlands as winners of the first-ever Jozi Faithful Super Rugby competition.

Having joined up as members of the loyal Jozi Faithful team, Brendon and Natalie watched every single DHL Stormers match this season with their fellow supporters at the Keg and Filly in Sunninghill. And their loyalty was rewarded by winning an all-expenses trip to Cape Town for the Stormers’ final match of 2013.

Brendon and Natalie were flown to Cape Town courtesy of Club Newlands, where they spent the weekend at the Tsogo Sun in Newlands, which is walking distance to the stadium.

Then, on matchday the two of them received a behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium – including a quick look-around the change-rooms before kick-off and a walk around the field whilst the Under-19 Vuka Final was taking place.

Thereafter the two of them were whisked off to the Club Newlands Lounge where Sokhana Gosani looked after them with some pre-match drinks and snacks.

After the game – despite their hoarse voices! – Brendon and Natalie were on the field one more time and they were able to meet a few players, before enjoying the rest of the evening at a nearby pub.

Brendon was almost at a loss for words right after the whistle, saying: “This was a truly memorable and unique experience and I’d like to thank everyone at WP Rugby and Club Newlands – Dean and Jacques in Johannesburg – for making this trip possible.

“We are proud DHL Stormers – and WP – supporters… no matter what, but a trip like brought (it) home to us why we’re such big fans. Thanks again and we cannot wait to get behind our team in the Absa Currie Cup!”
