The DHL Stormers XXIII make their first-ever appearance in the Carling Currie Cup at DHL Stadium on Friday night. Here is all you need to know ahead of matchday.
The match
Action gets underway at 19h05 on Friday night when we make history together as the DHL Stormers XXIII make their debut in the oldest domestic rugby competition in the world.
Experienced flyhalf Jean-Luc du Plessis leads a team which features six players who are playing the first Carling Currie Cup match of their careers.
The defending champions from Kimberley are in town, so this will be an epic clash between two teams looking to make a positive start.
Make sure you get there early. Gates open at 17h30, so come down after work and soak in the atmosphere before kick-off.

DHL Stadium is in a residential precinct. Please respect the residents and co-operate with traffic officials on duty. Vehicles that are illegally parked will be fined and/or towed.
E-hailing
There is a dedicated e-hailing drop-off area on Helen Suzman Boulevard between York Circle and Beach Road. Spectators are warned that drop-and-go and pick-up in this area will have long delays due to expected traffic congestion.
Road closures
There will be controlled access to Vlei Road. Fritz Sonnenberg Road and Stephan Way will be closed. Please also note that there is ongoing construction at the V&A Waterfront which will cause delays — plan your route accordingly.
Your match ticket
Ensure that you have added your match tickets to your phone’s wallet from the Stormers App before you get to the stadium, for a quick tap for easy entry. Screenshots will not work at the gates, so please add your ticket to your wallet in advance.
All those entering the stadium are requested to have their tickets on their own phone to reduce congestion and delays on entry.
Tickets are available to purchase at stormers.co.za and at the stadium ticket office (card only) while still available. Tickets purchased from Viagogo or any other third party will not be valid.
All tickets have an allocated level, block and seat number. Please sit in the correct seat as printed clearly on your ticket and keep your ticket on you at all times. There will be a secondary ticket security check inside the stadium before entry into the seating block is allowed. Signage and officials will help direct you.
