“Tonight’s victory was a very pleasing result for us. It is never easy to come to Loftus and leave with a win. A lot of hard work went into preparations this week and the players stood up tonight.”

“The biggest challenge was to front up with the physical intensity and I think we did that. We had set piece accuracy, we scrummed well, it was a dog fight at lineout and we did well on our own ball and we managed to steal some of their ball so I was very happy.”

“The victory was a collective effort by the forwards and backs. We created several chances tonight and whilst we only scored one try, we did create more opportunities so I am happy with that. We do need to keep improving, but it is definitely a step in the right direction.”

Despite, the impressive victory Coetzee is not getting too carried away with the victory. “Next week is a new challenge when we take on the Force. Whilst we are very happy with this result, it is still very early in the campaign and we have won nothing yet. We must keep our feet on the ground and continue to look to improve on our game.”

Coetzee confirmed that both Rynhardt Elstadt and Brok Harris suffered injuries during the game. Elstadt turned over his ankle, but felt fine after the game and should be available for next week.

Harris meanwhile injured his wrist and will undergo an x-ray to determine the extent of the damage. There is more good news for the coach as he will welcome back captain Schalk Burger and Anton Van Zyl into the mix for their next fixture.

As mentioned by the coach, next up for the DHL Stormers is a clash against the Force on Saturday 26 March at DHL Newlands. Kickoff for the clash is at 15:00 and tickets are still available at all Shoprite/Checkers stores, Computicket outlets and on computicket.com.
