DHL Stormers off to a good start
Stormers coach Allister Coetzee used the game to take a look at a lot of the younger and new players in the group, as well as some combinations. The 51-man squad will be cut in the next few weeks and several players are pushing hard for inclusion.
“I was pleased with the outing” said Coetzee. “The game was physical and played with intensity which is what we need right now. Whilst there is clearly still a lot to do, for this stage of the season and the conditions I was happy with the physicality and accuracy both on defence and offense. I am happy with the group at the moment and the depth we have. “
The Stormers next take on the Lions (Fri 27 Jan) and the Cheetahs (Sat 4 Feb) in the DHL Pre-season series at DHL Newlands.
The Cape side will then travel to PE to take on the Kings on Februray 11 in their last warm-up fixture before taking on the Hurricanes in the opening Super Rugby fixture on February 25 at Newlands.
