Good news for the DHL Stormers
The players return has been carefully managed having first had to prove medical fitness, then reach required team fitness levels and then only being phased back into team training and finally full contact.
Allister was pleased with the team’s 28-6 win over the Lions on Friday pointing to the attitude, attack, defence and fitness levels of his players. “There are however issues we need to work on” said the coach. Our scrumaging, discipline at the breakdown and elements of our kick-chase need work.”
“Referee Jonathan Kaplan will work with the team this week to get the scrum timing correct and to ensure we play within the new interpretations and timings of the law like at the break down.”
This week it’s the Cheetahs at Newlands (1700 Sat) and the coach is expecting some new challenges, “The Cheetahs are a good all-round side that has great set piece. They are good on attack using the width of the field and employ a rush defence. All of these elements will test our systems in a match situation and will continue our preparation.”
“There will be a couple of changes as we look to utilise all the players that are likely to be part of the final 30 crucial to success in the Super Season, but we will again look to start a good side.”
