Test match of note

The last time these two teams faced each other, the atmosphere was nothing less than electrifying. Backline Coach Robbie Fleck knows that this clash will be no different in its difficulty and intensity. “The Highlanders have shown glimpses of good structure, their strike runners are competitive and impressive off the ball. Our physical intensity will have to be massive for the full 80 minutes if we want to come out with a positive result”.

The Forsyth Barr Stadium has an unbelievable atmosphere when it’s filled with the Highlanders supporters from around the town. “Having our captains run there today was something special,” said Fleck.

The Highlanders will be sure to call on the highly-rated Tamati Ellison, who has returned from Japan, as well as the hard running Hosea Gear, but Coach Fleck believes that the duo of Captain Jean de Villiers and Juan de Jongh will counter the Highlanders backline.

“We have some special players in our backline, if we focus on our plan and our intensity we will be able to conquer what is set to be a test match of note”.

With the talking over, the team is now fully focused on Saturday and the goal of getting to their tour off on a solid start.
