Unbeaten DHL Stormers going ‘flat-out’ against Blues
The DHL Stormers will be going ‘flat-out’ this week as they look to make it five straight wins this season when they host the Blues at DHL Newlands on Saturday.
Following their hard-fought 17-7 victory against the Jaguares, the DHL Stormers are the only team that is yet to lose a game this season, but they will be looking to continue that run when the New Zealand team visit DHL Newlands this weekend.
Head Coach John Dobson said that with the bye coming up next week, his team will not be holding anything back when they take on the Blues in what should be a classic match-up.
“We are going to go full-out, this is a massive game. The Blues always box well here, it is going to be a great game.
“We are going full metel jacket for this one, if we can get five wins from five then I think we are in a very strong position.
“They are physical and direct, but they have got some real x-factor as well. It is going to be a classic South Africa-New Zealand game. It is going to be a cracker,” he said.
Dobson was satisfied with his team’s performance against a fired-up Jaguares team in what were slippery conditions at DHL Newlands on Saturday.
“We had to grind it out, but I thought our processes and everything were much better. Our breakdowns were superb, our set-piece was solid, ball-retention was good.
“Our phase count was higher than last week, we worked hard off the ball. Our conversion rate was poor, but our attack in the conditions was certainly better.
“We are the only unbeaten team left in the competition and still not operating at our full potential, but this was certainly a step up for me,” he added.
