Message from WPRFU President Mr Thelo Wakefield
A warm welcome to DHL Newlands for the match between our DHL Stormers and the Brumbies from Canberra.
The Brumbies have won all of their games so far this season, and will surely pose a stern test for our team who are looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat last weekend.
We last hosted the Brumbies in the Vodacom Super Rugby quarterfinal at DHL Newlands last year and it is great to have them back. We welcome their coach Stephen Larkham and captain Stephen Moore and trust that they will enjoy their time here in the fair Cape.
The atmosphere created inside DHL Newlands for our first two home games of the season against the Vodacom Bulls and Cell C Sharks has been simply electric, and we are all looking forward to a similar occasion this evening.
You will notice that our DHL Stormers players are wearing yellow armbands in support of SA Rugby’s Anti-Racism Week. We believe that this is an important initiative as we endeavour to use rugby to bring people together and embrace the diversity of our nation.
I would like to remind all spectators that DHL Newlands has been declared a non-smoking venue, in line with the relevant tobacco legislation, and I kindly urge all spectators to adhere to this.
To our sponsors DHL, Land Rover, adidas and BrightRock, thank you for all of your support which is greatly appreciated.
Finally to the DHL Newlands Faithful, you are a big part of what makes the DHL Stormers and Western Province Rugby special.
