After bursting on the scene this season with some deadly finishing which saw him score against the Toyota Cheetahs and Cell C Sharks, the lightning quick 20-year-old is hungry to keep learning and improving.

He explained that a major part of his success so far has been down to the support of the senior players around him, who have given him the confidence to express himself in a DHL Stormers jersey.

“It is definitely not easy, but the players next to me have made it much easier for me.

“I am playing with guys that I have watched very closely, and they have all made me feel very welcome in the team., and I feel that with them I can do anything,” he said.

DHL Stormers coach Robbie Fleck said that although Zas has made a fast start to his Vodacom Super Rugby career, he still has a lot to learn and expects to see him get even better as he gains more experience.

“He has worked incredibly hard at his game this year, he is still a bit raw, but the talent and more importantly the attitude is there.

“He is a fearless character who will take on any challenge that comes his way. He just wants the ball in his hands, and I think that the more he plays the better he will get.

“He doesn’t get engulfed in the situation, he takes it in his stride, which is a mark of a good player going forward,” said Fleck.

This weekend Zas will face a new challenge in the form of a Brumbies side which is full of Wallabies, and he cannot wait to test himself agaianst the Canberra outfit at DHL Newlands.

“Every week is a challenge for me, I am learning from the other guys and to play the Brumbies it will be nice to measure yourself against guys with Test caps and all that,” he said.
