Tommy, who played for the Boland Cavaliers against SWD in the Vodacom Cup this past weekend, pulled into Newlands late this morning to complete the necessary paperwork for a Australian visa and flight details. Ria Malan, Manager of Logistics and Players’ Affairs, estimated that the visa should be ready by Wednesday, and confirmed that Tommy will fly Cape Town / Johannesburg / Sydney to meet up with the rest of the team on the first available flight.

Tommy made his debut for Boland in 1999 and has played more than 100 first class matches for his province. Born and bred in Upington, he is currently also studying a teaching diploma at Cape Peninsula University of Technology’s Wellington Campus.

Early predictions from the Vodacom Stormers medical team indicate that Brok Harris should be ready for the Waratahs clash, which will allow Dixon some grace in settling in. The Vodacom Stormers fly out of Sydney to Christchurch on Sunday, where they face the Crusaders before heading home.

In the mean time the tighthead prop has collected his kit from Newlands and will now pack his bags for what could be his Super Rugby debut in Australasia.
