Three all-new DHL Stormers 2020 jerseys
The three jerseys that the DHL Stormers will wear in the 2020 Vodacom Super Rugby campaign have been revealed and are set to go on sale to the public in December.
The 2020 campaign will see the DHL Stormers run out in three new, power jersey designs, from apparel sponsor BLK, with home, away and Thor designs available on pre-order now from stormersshop.co.za and on sale at all major retailers and the official online shop in December.
Honouring the history and heritage of the DHL Stormers, the home jersey retains the traditional blue and white stripes synonymous with Western Province Rugby, which are set at a diagonal across the front, with a red trim which represents the Disa flower of the Western Province Rugby Football Union.
Inspired by the rich history of the Khoesan, the back of the jersey features 15 figures standing together, which represents the team and pays tribute to the Cape roots of South Africa’s first people. It also symbolises the loyal support of the Faithful – united behind the DHL Stormers.
Given the DHL Stormers’ Cape home, the figures on the jersey reference the figures of the national coat of arms – inspired by the Linton Panel – and motto which translates to ‘diverse people unite’. These figures embody the team’s driving force – standing together with the Faithful.
The rock art of the Western Cape is a powerful connection to our heritage. It ties us and our shared ancestors, to the landscape and to the community spirit of people and is in one way showcased today by the passion of the Faithful. The power of belief and community is clear to see in the way the Faithful stand together with the DHL Stormers.
The away jerseys are black in the style of the 1999 Men in Black campaign to commemorate the coming of age of the DHL Stormers 21 years on, with the diagonal white stripes coming over the shoulder and the 15 figures ever-present, standing together on the back.
There is also a new version of the Marvel-inspired Thor jersey, which is now predominantly silver as a suit of armour for the DHL Stormers and the Faithful to wear.
All three players match jerseys feature the latest BLK technology in design, to ensure that the DHL Stormers are able to perform at their peak on the field in 2020. The Exotek moisture wicking four-way stretch fabric promotes increased movement and comfort for premium fit and function. There is highly durable lycra with exceptional elasticity sewn into the movement panels for enhanced comfort and range of motion, while the gel gripper application on key parts of the jersey such as the internal hem and front chest provide greater ball control and grip for the players.
