Rassie puts a stop to CJ rumour

The question of depth was discussed at the team’s weekly press conference at their training venue in Bellville on Wednesday, where Erasmus admitted that with injuries being part of the game, one’s depth could easily be depleted. “I’m fairly happy with our depth, but things can go wrong,” said Erasmus, referring to tightheads’ Brok Harris and JC Kritzinger both going down with injuries in a single training session.

“Brok’s possibly a long term one – he’s foot is in a boot cast and he could be out for up to 10 weeks,” explained Erasmus. “JC is less serious, it’s just a knee niggle, he should be fine.”

Following this news, the media were quick to jump on the rumour of CJ van der Linde’s potential move to Cape Town, but Erasmus was having none of it.

“We’ve got Brian, Brok and JC, where would CJ play?” said Erasmus, prompting one of the journo’s to chirp: “In the starting line-up?” Erasmus shot back: “May be for another coach,” abruptly ending the line of questioning.

The Vodacom Stormers squad for the 2009 Super 14 will be announced on 6 February.
