PinkDrive the big winner at DHL Newlands
PinkDrive and Breast Cancer Awareness were the big winners at DHL Newlands on the International Day of Action For Women’s Health.
While DHL Western Province beat ORC Griquas 24-23 before the DHL Stormers picked up a 31-24 victory against the Toyota Cheetahs with all four teams wearing pink armbands, there was also success off the pitch through the involvement of PinkDrive.
One of PinkDrive’s mobile Women’s Health Mammography and Gynaecology Units which is housed in a specially designed hi-tech truck conducted 12 free mammograms on the day, with zero referrals.
President of the Western Province Rugby Football Union Mr Thelo Wakefield said that it was very rewarding to form such a strong partnership with a worthy cause like PinkDrive.
“Everyone involved a DHL Newlands on Saturday really embraced the occasion and made the most of the opportunity to team up with PinkDrive to promote awareness of Breast Cancer, which was heartening to see,” he said.
Noelene Kotschan, CEO and Founder of PinkDrive, thanked everyone involved in making the day a success.
“It was an absolute pleasure and honour for PinkDrive to be part of this day. Thank you to the DHL Stormers who played their hearts out for our cause and help drive our message that ‘early detection saves lives’. We look forward to making DHL Newlands completely pink in 2017!” she said.
