More to come from DHL WP teams after Vodacom URC
The Vodacom United Rugby Championship might be over, but there is still more rugby to come with the DHL Western Province senior team, Women’s team and U19s all still in action.
The DHL Stormers hosted their second successive Vodacom United Rugby Championship Grand Final at DHL Stadium on Saturday, going down 19-14 against Irish side Munster in a hard-fought match.
The crowd of 56 344 at DHL Stadium was the biggest for any DHL Stormers match, breaking a 24-year record, and also the biggest for any Vodacom URC play-off match.
DHL Western Province have two matches left before the Currie Cup play-offs. They are currently in fourth position, with an away match against Windhoek Draught Griquas in Kimberley on Friday before they finish the regular season at DHL Stadium with a coastal clash against the Cell C Sharks, which will kick off at 17h05 on Saturday 10 June.
They are level on log points with the Fidelity ADT Lions and Vodacom Bulls and there are seven teams who are still in the play-off race.
DHL Western Province Women will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season when they face defending champions Border Ladies away on Saturday. With three wins from three games, they are currently ahead of the Bulls Daisies on points difference at the top of the log.
DHL Western Province U19 will take on Cell C Sharks U19 in a home semifinal this weekend. They finished the regular season in second place with three wins from their five games.
That means that there will be three DHL Western Province teams in action this weekend, all contending in their various competitions.
