Mini Rugby day a massive success
This year a total of 117 schools participated, with 386 teams entered and 386 matches being played (two matches per team), with a total of 3 988 young players participating.
“It’s a massive event. One that is eagerly anticipated by young aspirant players from far and wide.” said Theo Kleynhans GM Youth Rugby. “Whilst an enormous amount of fun for the youngsters it also spreads the rugby message and helps foster a love for the game whilst bringing youngsters from all walks of life into contact with each other. That’s what rugby at this level is all about.”
“LET’S PLAY”, the Supersport Youth Program aimed at encouraging an active lifestyle for young people has partnered with the WP Rugby Union’s Youth department in promoting this mini rugby event.
“On behalf of the WPRFU, I would like to thank GENUINE CONNECTION and SPUR for their generous sponsorship of this wonderful event and J. RYAN PRINTERS, PENINSULA BEVERAGES, and DISTINCTIVE CHOICE for their continued support of WP Youth Rugby as well as DE KUILEN HIGH SCHOOL, DE KUILEN PRIMARY SCHOOL and MIKRO PRIMARY SCHOOL for the use of their facilities and their manpower and support.” concluded Kleynhans.
