On 4 July, some of the DHL Stormers’ finest players will set DHL Newlands stadium alight in tribute, lighting braai fires on the field to remember the magical moments that have lit the stadium up over more than a century.
Fired-up fans can be in the stadium, from home
Fans are invited to join in, by lighting up their braai fires at home; and then sending in their most memorable DHL Newlands moments and their Saturday family braai day pics on 4 July. These pictures will be shared that same Saturday afternoon on the DHL Newlands stadium screen via YouTube LIVE, giving fans the opportunity to be in the stadium from home.
On the day, Elma Smit, Bryan Habana, and Siv Ngesi will host a streamed special live show from DHL Newlands, crossing over to a few lucky fans who’ll be sharing their braai and celebrating DHL Newlands rugby at their own homes on the stadium big screen. It’s a chance for all South African rugby fans, from all corners of South Africa, to be in the iconic DHL Newlands stadium on 4 July, from their homes. Besides seeing their pics and videos on screen, fans will also have the chance to win exciting prizes over the course of the next two weeks.
Making connections
The world has embraced enormous change over the past few months, learning to connect with others in new ways, thanks to technology and a new-found appreciation for time spent with family and friends. According to BrightRock Executive Director, Suzanne Stevens, some of these changes provided the inspiration for the livestream and a different way for South Africans to celebrate DHL Newlands and its iconic place in international rugby lore.
“DHL Newlands is as much a part of our DNA as rugby and braaivleis. At BrightRock, our philosophy is to Love Change – to embrace the opportunities that change brings to try new things. We’re excited to have the opportunity to put this thinking into practice to create an exciting new way for fans to honour and celebrate DHL Newlands.”
Stevens says BrightRock’s needs-matched life insurance is designed to allow clients to embrace change as well: “BrightRock’s needs-matched life insurance puts our clients in the driving seat, empowering them to work with their financial adviser to co-create their own life insurance solution that precisely matches their specific needs – and can change with them as their needs change throughout their lives.”
