The 4 and ½ day camp is being held at Lourensford Estate, Somerset West. The camp will focus on rugby specific training – the estate having its own floodlit field, unique mountainous training environment and accommodation for the team and management.
Coaching staff and players will utilize this time to formulate their approach to the competition and finalise the plans for the season ahead.
“The Vodacom Super 12 is arguably one of the toughest rugby competitions in existence and this time together as a group, will help us prepare both mentally and physically for the challenges ahead,” said Investec Stormers coach Gert Smal. “We are excited about the forthcoming season and will look to use the camp, warm up game, and tour games, to provide the best possible preparation for the season.”
The Investec Stormers play one warm up game in South Africa against Boland in Wellington on 28 January 2005. The Stormers team then takes on the Gwent Dragons in Dubai on 4 February, and the Wasps in London, UK, on Sunday 13 February, before returning to Cape Town to complete their preparations.
