Erasmus eyeing good win
Coach Rassie Erasmus said as much this week when he discussed his side’s third match. The Cape franchise is rooted at the bottom of the log and is seriously in need of a victory.
“We have three defeats behind us and are getting desperate for a win. That is the only thing that grows confidence,” said the coach.
The Stormers have won the previous two games against the Queenslanders, but the Reds have shown an improvement this season. Therefore Erasmus is taking nothing for granted.
“There is not much to choose between us and the Reds. They have the home ground advantage. It will be a big boost for our players’ confidence if we can come away with a win.”
In order for his team to break their duck, Erasmus said his backline players need to show more penetration on the attack. The Stormers have thus far scored only one try in their three outings.
“We are struggling with our attack. But all we can do is work harder to make it right. We have talented players such as Peter Grant, Jean de Villiers and Gcobani Bobo as our inside backs.
“They are all Springboks, so they know what they have to do to improve.”
