Double boost for DHL Stormers

Double boost for DHL Stormers

For the first time this season, there are no fresh injury worries in the Stormers camp – meaning the entire matchday 22 from the Reds game will be up for selection, against the Kings, next weekend.

“We have a few bumps and bruises from the Reds match – but nothing serious, nothing which will rule anyone out of the Kings game,” said DHL Stormers coach Allister Coetzee on Sunday.

“It’s a big positive,” he added, “given the massive amount of injuries we’ve had to deal with this year.”

But there was also further good news for the Stormers on Sunday, with Coetzee confirming that hooker-cum-flank Deon Fourie and lock De Kock Steenkamp would be available to face the Kings.

“Deon and De Kock have reacted well to treatment this past week and will be considered for the Kings match,” said Coetzee.

Fourie (ribs) missed the Reds match, after soldiering on bravely on tour against the Rebels, whilst Steenkamp picked up a chest injury against the Blues on May 3.

The DHL Stormers, who will host the Kings at DHL Newlands next Saturday (17h05), are still without – amongst others – hooker Scarra Ntubeni (hamstring), props Pat Cilliers (ankle) and Frans Malherbe (ankle), lock Andries Bekker (back), flank Rynhardt Elstadt (knee), No.8 Duane Vermeulen (knee), flyhalf Peter Grant (ankle) and centre Juan de Jongh (finger).
