Two late tries from Sacha Feinberg-Mgomezulu saw the DHL Stormers claim a crucial 44-21 win against Dragons RFC at Rodney Parade in Newport on Friday night.

While the match had hung in the balance for the mjaority of the 80 minutes, the DHL Stormers replacements bench made all the difference as the visitors pulled away in the final stages.

The home side dominated territory and possession in the early stages and opened the scoring with a penalty from flyhalf Will Reed.

The opening try came from a line-out deep in the DHL Stormers’ 22 as flank Harri Keddie crashed over from close range.

Reed added another penalty to put the Welsh side 11-0 up, before the DHL Stormers fought back.

The visitors got on the scoreboard with a penalty kick from Manie Libbok following a dominant scrum and they were right back in it when wing Angelo Davids got on the end of a well-weighted grubber from fullback Warrick Gelant to score.

That saw the DHL Stormers go into the break trailing 10-11, leaving the game in the balance in the second half.

The teams traded penalties at the start of the second half before Dragons No.8 Aaron Wainwright forced his way over in the coner to put the home side back in front.

Davids was put over for his second try by Gelant once again and the touchline conversion from Libbok saw the DHL Stormers take the lead again.

From there the DHL Stormer took full control as two late tries from Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu saw them claim a comfortable win in the end.
