DHL Dancers in makeover

This year we wanted to do something a little different for our bevy of beautiful dancers and for you, the fans. So, come March 9 (when the DHL Stormers entertain the Chiefs at DHL Newlands), you will see the DHL dancers in their new outfits, as they take to the field for the first home game of 2013.

The new outfits are the culmination of a design contest with FEDISA, South Africa’s leading institute for a BA Degree in Fashion Design. Students were given the brief to come up with a new, exciting ensemble for the ladies, which would set them apart from the rest of the rugby field.

The DHL Design a Dancer contest was aimed to promote local fashion design and ensure that DHL and Western Province Rugby supports the local community in designing and manufacturing the garments. Not only will the winner get their design showcased on the field and TV, but they will also receive a cash incentive of R10,000!

Watch out for the shortlisted seven designs over the next few days, as we showcase some of the best student talent in the province. And then, make sure to catch the first home game this weekend, as the dancers run out onto the pitch, for their first 2013 performance at DHL Newlands.
