Another massive challenge
The CEO of the Stormers is however currently still in discussions with SARU on the matter. Should Kitshoff not be available, Deon Carstens is expected to be his replacement on the weekend. “Deon has been a part of the squad from the beginning, toured with the team, is no stranger to Super Rugby and is a specialist loose-head.” said the coach.
The news on flanker Siya Kolisi was better with the coach confirming “Siya looks very positive. He should be ready to go.” There was however still some doubt around Joe Pietersen who also missed the weekend’s game against the Sharks. Pietersen will undergo a fitness test tomorrow.
On the game against the Sharks the coach said, “I am not going to make excuses. Other than the start we weren’t good in the first half. That said the second half was a much better performance. Coming back from 25-6 down to finish 25-20 showed guts and determination. We had our chances and despite the odds, the team believed right until the end that they could win it. That bonus point was important.”
The coach added that they expect another massive game at Loftus. ”They are coming off two consecutive losses and I am sure don’t want a third. Back at home in front of a partisan crowd and given the log position, it is going to be a massive game.”
