All you need to know for Vodacom URC Grand Final at DHL Stadium

2 years ago Uncategorized

The Vodacom United Rugby Championship Grand Final between the DHL Stormers and the Vodacom Bulls will be played in front of a maximum allowed capacity crowd of 31 000 after tickets sold out on Thursday.

The last 6000 tickets sold in two hours on Thursday ahead of the showpiece match between the two traditional rivals, which kicks off at 19h30 on Saturday.

Given the large crowd attending and the wet weather expected spectators are urged to get to DHL Stadium early, with gates opening at 16h30 on Saturday – three hours before kick-off.

It is recommended to dress warmly and bring a raincoat, but do not bring an umbrella as they are prohibited and will not be allowed inside the stadium.

Heavy traffic is expected on all routes leading to DHL Stadium and parking will be very limited in the stadium precinct. There are no cash parking areas near the stadium , with limited parking in P2 and P9 available on the Ticketpro website only. CLICK HERE to book now

Hospitality ticket holders with pre-issued parking in either P1, P4 or P5 will have to provide evidence that they are entitled to these parking bays by clearly displaying the Vehicle Access Permit (VAP) on their dashboard when entering the parking area via Vlei Road. Failure to display will result in access being denied. Vehicles are parked at own risk.

Ticket holders with disabilities must formally request access to the parking bays dedicated in P5 for people with disabilities, by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. These parking bays are limited and available on a first come first served basis.

DHL Stadium is in a residential precinct, so please respect the residents and co-operate with the traffic officials on duty. Please note that vehicles that are illegally parked will be fined and/or towed away.

Fritz Sonnenberg Road, Vlei Road, Stephan Way, Fort Wynyard Street, Somerset Road and Main Road will all be closed from 13h00 until 23h30, while Haul Road and Granger Bay Boulevard will be closed from 15h00.

All those with a match ticket will be able to use the MyCiTi shuttle services between the stadium and Thibault Square / Civic Centre Bus Stations free of charge, with the first bus leaving for the stadium at 15h30 and the last bus leaving the stadium at 23h00. The Fan Walk will also be open, so it would be best to park in the Cape Town CBD and make your way to DHL Stadium from one of these points in order to avoid the heavy traffic in the stadium precinct.

It is recommended that those using e-hailing are dropped off and collected in the CBD at DF Malan Drive opposite the Artscape Theatre, Hertzog Boulevard or Jan Smuts Street and then use the MyCiTi shuttle which is free to all event ticket holders from the Civic Centre Station or Thibault Square Station, or alternatively use the Fan Walk.

There is an e-hailing drop-off area in Helen Suzman Boulevard between Vlei Road and Beach Road on both sides, but spectators are warned that drop-and-go and pick-up around the stadium will have very long delays due to traffic congestion.

Please print your match ticket clearly and also bring a digital version on your phone and have both ready to scan in as easily as possible at the gates.

COVID-19 checks remain in place. All those attending must produce either a vaccination certificate or a negative COVID-19 test – rapid antigen test or PCR acceptable from the previous 72 hours, along with their ID before entering the stadium. Every spectator must be checked for this documentation along with their match tickets, so it will take some time to get everyone inside the stadium and it is recommended to arrive at the stadium by 18h00.

Children under 12 do not need to provide any documentation before entering, but all those older than 12 must either have a vaccination certificate or a negative COVID-19 test.

Spectators need either a vaccination certificate or negative COVID-19 test to enter the stadium. Callouts will be stationed at the stadium offering Rapid Antigen COVID-19 testing at R150 each at the Main West Gates 1 – 11, between 15h00 and 19h00. Results will be available within 15 minutes of testing. CLICK HERE to book now.

Although masks are only required in indoor areas, all spectators are encouraged to bring a mask along in case they find themselves in such an area at any time.

Please note that no spectator is allowed access to the pitch. Any person invading the pitch can be prosecuted as this is a criminal offence.
