Bok camp call-up excites Kolbe

Kolbe will be part of the national training group that will assemble in the Mother City from May 31 to June 3.

It is another achievement in addition to the many highlights during the 22-year-old’s budding career.

While he has established himself as a regular starter in the DHL Stormers and DHL Western Province teams, he has also featured for the Springbok Sevens on the international stage.

“I’m delighted with the news. It’s definitely a dream come true to be part of the national set-up,” Kolbe told MyPlayers.co.za.

“I hope to make the most of the opportunity by taking in and learning as much as I can.

“I’ll find myself in a new environment, so I will need to find my feet as soon as possible and listen to the advice I receive from the coaches and players around me.”

Kolbe added that he realises that there is a big difference between Super Rugby and Test rugby.

“Super Rugby is a big challenge week in and week out, but with time, I learned what was needed to make an impact,” he said.

“International rugby will be another step up, but with time and experience, hopefully I can prove myself on the international stage.

“I know there’s less space, less time on the ball and more pressure, but if I can adapt and focus on my strengths, I’m sure I can make a valuable contribution.”

Looking ahead to the remainder of the 2015 Vodacom Super Rugby, Kolbe is happy with the DHL Stormers’ performances thus far, and hopes to continue contributing to the Cape side’s success.

“We were very happy with the win over the Bulls.

“We hope to continue that winning momentum going into our next game against the Cheetahs,” said Kolbe. “It’s important not to look too far ahead as we take each week as it comes.

“From my perspective, I’m happy with my current form, but there’s always room for improvement. I’m thankful for the opportunities offered to me, and hope to make the most out of every chance I get.”
