The DHL Stormers will head to Bloemfontein on Friday ahead of their clash at the Free State Stadium on Saturday (kick-off 17h05).
The full DHL Stormers injury report (27/04/15):
– Utility back Dillyn Leyds (shoulder) is fit for selection after coming through a fitness test and training today.
– No.8 Duane Vermeulen took a blow to his shoulder against the Bulls, but it was nothing more than a stinger. He is 100% fit.
– Vice-captain and centre Juan de Jongh did not train today – as the coaching and medical staff continue to manage him – but he is 100% fit to play.
– Nizaam Carr (knock to his knee) and Damian de Allende (recovery day) did not train, but neither are in doubt for this weekend.
– Flank Michael Rhodes (hamstring) started treadmill running today. He could be back after the bye weekend (May 15-17).
– Utility back Jaco Taute (knee) has re-joined full training and could get some game time in the Vodacom Cup next weekend.
– Wing Kobus van Wyk will be in a knee brace for one more week before his rehabilitation commences. He is still out of action for another five weeks.
QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH ALLISTER COETZEE:
On facing the Cheetahs:
“We will have the same mindset for this weekend as we do for all South African Derbies. We understand how tough these games are and we know we need to pitch up.
“The Cheetahs pushed the Lions in Johannesburg, they’re a good side and this will be a tough match.
“There’s a few things we need to get right, like the line-out and I wasn’t happy with the amount of turnovers we conceded – a side like the Cheetahs will punish us for mistakes like that, so we need to respect the ball.”
On having so many players – including nine uncapped players – called up to the national training squads:
“I’m happy they have received recognition for their performances and hard work and I know they will all keep pushing for selection.”
