Vodacom Stormers pay tribute to firefighters
De Wet Barry, Ross Skeate and Adri Badenhorst met with the fearless men and women from the City of Cape Town Firefighting Teams, firefighters from Table Mountain National Park, as well as some volunteers on Wednesday to hand over the tickets.
“Given the recent spate of fires in the Western Cape, the team felt it would be a great idea to pay tribute to all the members of the fire service and to invite some of the men and women that risk their lives fighting fires in our home region to the game.
We have great respect for what they do and would also like to encourage the public out there to do all they can to help prevent fires. We hope they are able to take time out and to come and support the Vodacom Stormers on Saturday when we take on the Waratahs. We are some of their greatest fans,” said De Wet Barry, Vodacom Stormers captain.
Says Fiona Kalk, Comms Manager for TMNP, “We would like to thank the Stormers for their support and applaud their desire to bring fire awareness to the forefront. This gesture is just one more reflection of how passionate all Capetonians are about their city and National Park. And lastly we join all their supporters in wishing them success on Saturday in their much anticipated clash against the Waratahs.”
