Vodacom Stormers want to make amends

19 years ago News

The Vodacom Stormers, who are close to the bottom of the Super 14 log, made a few changes to the side this week, including relegating captain De Wet Barry to the bench and appointing hooker Schalk Brits captain.

Word from the camp this week is that the team worked on a few variations in their attacking play this week.

They will try to catch the opposition on the wrong foot on Saturday.

“We need variation in our game and have worked on a couple of new things. We want to come up with a fresh onslaught with brand new ammunition,” said coach Kobus van der Merwe.

Van der Merwe says the Bulls also managed to spring a couple of surprises last week (when they played to a draw against the Chiefs).

“They surprised everyone by raising the tempo of their play and opting to tap and go.”

There is no doubt that the Stormers have the ammunition to run the Chiefs ragged if they secure quality possession.
