The Stormers players did not make the 26 man touring squad, but still form part of the 32 named to SANZAR at the beginning of the season.

The young Vodacom WP team, bursting with the raw talent is under the expert guidance of former Vodacom Stormers Technical Director Gary Gold, who now coaches the Vodacom Cup and Vodacom WP under 21 sides.

Gold has done well to nurture the young talent and his biggest test will come in the form of this weekends match against the Bulldogs. The team from East London beat the Natal Wildebeest during a pre-season friendly and they will pose a formidable threat for the boys in the Blue and White Hoops.

22 year old Paarl Boys old boy Pieter Louw will lead the Vodacom WP team and is sure to learn a lot from an experienced and well traveled man like Selborne Boome.

Kick-off is at 16h30.

If you are a die-hard rugby fan, you’ll do well to come down to Newlands for some local rugby action. Two curtain raiser matches have also been scheduled.

The first is at 13h30 and is between two sides from the WP Rugby Institute in Stellenbosch. The Institute has been established as a breeding ground for young talent, where boys are afforded an education in rugby, with the intent on pursuing the game as a professional career. (visit www.wprugby.com for more information on the WP Rugby Institute)

The second game is a club match between Altius Collegians RFC and Zorgvliet Pniel Villagers RFC at 14h45pm.

Gates open at 13h00 and tickets are R20 for Grand Stand, Railway and Danie Craven Stands, R15 for the Jan Pickard Stand and Grand Stand Ramp seating and R10 for Danie Craven Standing room.
