Vodacom Stormers v The Nashua Cape Cobras
On Friday, January 15, the Nashua Cape Cobras play their final round robin match in the MTN40 series against the Chevrolet Warriors which starts at 16h00. Tickets are obtainable from Computicket outlets country wide or directly from Sahara Park Newlands.
This MTN40 day-night encounter will be followed by the Pick n Pay Newlands Challenge between the Nashua Cape Cobras and the Vodacom Stormers on Sunday, January 17.
The 20-overs showdown between the Western Cape’s cricket and rugby stars has become an annual highlight. It is a fun-filled family event with the emphasis firmly on entertainment and an opportunity for youngsters to get close to their sporting heroes.
“The Challenge represents a fantastic opportunity to have the Capes pro rugby, cricket and soccer teams all at a single fun event. The players really look forward to this fun day. It’s great to compete against the Cobras, meet the fans and raise some funds for charity as well. See you there, it’s a great day out for the family”, Schalk Burger, Vodacom Stormers Captain said.
An added bonus this year will be the participation of stars from Ajax and Santos football clubs, who will showcase their soccer skills during the lunch break.
Pick n Pay is assisting promoting the event through in store media, till slip advertising and on the website plus supplying the player families, volunteers, media meals and launching the Pick n Pay Braai Express to the general public at the Snake Pit.

The teams for the fifth annual cricket-rugby clash will be announced during a press conference at Sahara Park Newlands on Tuesday, 13 January 2010 at 13h30.
A lucky Nashua Cape Cobras and Vodacom Stormers fan, picked through 94.5 KFM, will join the squads.
Autograph sheets will be handed out at the turnstiles so fans can get their favourite sport stars’ autographs. Stadium vendors will be operational and the beer gardens will be open.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for fans in the Western Cape to meet their favourite players, for children to meet their heroes and for all those in the soccer, cricket and rugby fraternity to interact with one another and their community,” said Jasmiena Davids, Marketing Manager of the Nashua Cape Cobras. “This day will be a celebration of three sporting codes coming together with their fans.”
Part of the proceeds from the Pick ’n Pay Newlands Challenge will go to the Vodacom Stormers’ official charity, the Chris Burger/Petro Jackson Fund, facilities for the Quadpara Association at Sahara Park Newlands and Mosaic, the official charity of the Nashua Cape Cobras.
