Boland to host Vodacom Stormers at new stadium
The match tickets are priced at R50 and R80 for the Cape Town Stadium Rugby Festival. Parking tickets are available at R20 at the Computicket outlets. The cost for the Castle Cape Town 10’s Rugby Festival weekender package is priced at R120 per ticket and is also available at all Computicket outlets.
Although the Vodacom Stormers and Boland Invitational provide the main attraction, there is also plenty of other entertainment for fans at the event, which is organised by Stadium Operators SAIL STADEFRANCE and hosted by the City of Cape Town.
A celebrity 10’s match will take on an International Legends 10’s outfit in the main curtain-raiser, while top South African band Flat Stanley will perform before the main event.
The Vodacom Stormers are preparing for the new Super 14 season and will have in their ranks new recruits in the form of Springbok stars, wing Bryan Habana and centre Jacque Fourie.
These world-class talents join the likes of Schalk Burger, Andries Bekker, Juan de Jongh and Duane Vermueluen in an exciting squad for 2010.

Boland Rugby’s President Francois Davids, says his union is delighted to be involved in this historic occasion.
“The Boland Invitational XV versus Vodacom Stormers match has become somewhat of an institution over the years, with the game serving annually as a festive way in which to kick the rugby season off in the Western Cape.
For Boland Rugby it is a wonderful annual opportunity to usher in the Super 14 competition. This year it’s even more special and indeed significantly historic in that the 2010 game sees the first ever Rugby match at the spectacular new Cape Town Stadium.
“We urge Rugby fans from all over Cape Town and the Boland to ensure that you are at the Cape Town Stadium on February 6th, to experience and get a taste of the new venue as it prepares to host the world’s biggest sporting event in just a few months from now. Meanwhile, former Springbok captain Bobby Skinstad, who is involved in the Castle Cape Town 10’s tournament, says fans who have not experienced ’10s’ rugby before are in for a treat.
“It is somewhere in between Sevens and the full game and it is a lot of fun,” Skinstad says, “Spectators will see some great skills on show and we have some wonderful players on both sides. It is going to be a great occasion for Cape Town and we are delighted to play a part in it.”
Preceding the rugby festival, is The Cape Town Stadium Soccer Festival on January 23, where the Mother City’s brand-new R4.5-billion venue will be opened to the public for the first time.
That day will feature a local Derby between Premier Soccer League sides Santos and Ajax Cape Town, as well as a performance from award-winning South African band Freshlyground.
Only around 50 percent of the tickets for The Cape Town Stadium Soccer Festival remain, and are available at all Computicket outlets, ranging from R30 to R50, while parking tickets at the stadium can be purchased at a price of R20, though it should be noted that only 3 000 of these will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Please note, no tickets will be sold at the Stadium.
