DHL Stormers go down at the death in Glasgow
A late try saw the Glasgow Warriors claim a 24-17 win against the DHL Stormers in their Vodacom United Rugby Championship encounter at Scotstoun Stadium on Sunday.
The teams were deadlocked at 17-17 heading into the final stages, but the home team came up with the killer blow in the last play of the match, leaving the DHL Stormers with one bonus point to show for their efforts.
The first half was a breathless affair, which saw both teams score two tries in an open and entertaining opening 40 minutes.
The DHL Stormers threatened early on, but it was the home side who scored first with wing Sebastian Cancelliere going over from a counter attack.
The DHL Stormers responded with a try from a maul, as hooker Joseph Dweba peeled away before crashing his way over the line, with the conversion from Manie Libbok putting the visitors 7-5 up.
Glasgow were back in front when their skipper Kyle Steyn went over for their second try, but the DHL Stormers had the final say in the first half as fullback Clayton Blommetjies was put through by a bullet pass from scrumhalf Paul de Wet, to cap a preiod of sustained pressure in the 22.
Both teams had further opportunities, but were unable to make the most of them as the DHL Stormers took a slender 12-10 advantage into the half-time break.
The hosts took the lead back early in the second half when centre Huw Jones went over, but the DHL Stormers were back on level terms just after the hour mark as replacement loose forward Junior Pokomela forced his way over from close range.
That set up a tense finish and it was Cancilliere who provided the killer blow, running onto a grubber to score the decisive fourth try which sealed the win.
