Allister: Pleased with team’s resilience

Coetzee said: “I am very pleased with the result. We were away from home and after Peter Grant pulled out in the week and Gary van Aswegen’s injury we had a great deal to overcome and I think we did well. The conditions were also not great so I am very happy with the result.”

Whilst there were standout performances by the likes of Juan de Jongh and man of the match Andries Bekker, Allister praised the collective efforts of his side. He did however admit that there were a few elements that the team need to look at.

“It was a good team performance. Our set piece accuracy was much improved on last week and it really was a great defensive effort from the guys.

“On attack we created so many opportunities and the score is not a true reflection of the pattern of the game We left a few tries out there that we did not convert and that is something that we will look at.”

Next weekend the DHL Stormers will have a bye and Coetzee would like his side to enjoy the break before they switch their focus to the Sharks clash on 30 April.

“We have got two training sessions during the week, but I think the focus this week will be more about resting up, recovering and reenergise so that they are ready to get back to the hard work next week Monday as we prepare for the clash with the Sharks.”

On the injury front Gary van Aswegen has suffered an injury to his knee. Early signs is that he could be out between 3 or 4 weeks, but confirmation will only be made next week. With a week break, the squad will look to recover from any niggles they have ahead of their next clash in a fortnight’s time at DHL Newlands.
